TIPD135: 10μA ~ 100mA, 0.05%, ±15V, Shunt Sense

Summary

This split-supply, high-side current sensing solution accurately detects load currents from 10 μA to 100 mA. The linear range of the differential voltage output is from -4.9V to +4.9 V. An instrumentation amplifier with pin-programmable gain was selected in order to measure the four-decade load current range.

TI Precision Designs are analog solutions created by TI’s analog experts. Verified Designs offer the theory, component selection, simulation, complete PCB schematic & layout, bill of materials, and measured performance of useful circuits. Circuit modifications that help to meet alternate design goals are also discussed.

  • Senses Current from 10uA-100mA with <0.05% Error

  • Supports up to ±12.5V Common-mode Input Range

  • 10mV to 4.9V output for measurement by common 5V ADCs

  • Utilizes PGA281 pin-programmable gain instrumentation amplifier to achieve four decade current measurement

  • High-Side, Four Decade, Bi-directional, Current Sensing Verified Solution
